Tomorrow we get her new Lifted Butt Series Workout #1. I hope it is a good one. As one of my readers pointed out (thanks Lena!) Zuzka is doing Lifted Butt and BR is filming a Build Your Booty Workout right now. Hmmmm.....interesting! I hope both of these include hip thrusters and not just a lot of squats.

Zuzka still has a beginner workout each week and BR is filming one right now. I understand that beginners need workouts too and they are not catering to the more seasoned workout person - probably because we outgrow their workouts? Why not make a beginner series with an advanced option? It is usually done the other way around. But perhaps a beginner one with harder options for the rest of us long time followers. Just a thought.

I saw on Lisa's FB page that today starts their Bodyrock X workouts:

Hi BodyRockers,
Today we start BodyRock X. Its 12 Min’s of Fat Burning Liquid Awesome. These workouts will eventually make one entire HIITMax workout.
Workout BreakDown:
Set Your Interval Timers To 50 Seconds Work & 10 Seconds Rest.
Complete the Following Workout 3 x Through. Increase today’s workout burn by adding your BodyRock Vest. It’s a game changer.

Why was this not advertised hardly at all? I don't get that! I didn't even know it was coming......

They are pushing the weighted vest again
(which you can also get here cheaper: http://www.power-systems.com/p-4463-infinity-vest.aspx?affId=175753  OR here: http://amzn.to/1is1h0k

Do you guys use one?

  1. It's funny how they seem to only cater to beginners, yet Rumi is able to offer advanced options. I find those advanced workouts challenging when I do them. I am more barbell-focused at the moment, but I do Rumi's workouts fairly often, when I don't have time for the gym, etc.

If BR and Zuzka offered something more advanced, I might be interested in following them again... But I'm sick of the same old jumping around, hiit stuff.

    1. I like Rumi's workouts a lot too. Maybe BR or Z will come out with an advanced routine after the beginner series? But then again I think BR prob thought their HIIT Max was advanced. You certainly could make it advanced, but it was still HIIT. I'd like some more strength stuff. I've been asking for ages! I think it is hard to do that at home for most people because they do not have enough weights.

  2. The last time Zuzka really intrigued me with a workout series was Summer Shred. Although I get good results with her method, I am also sick of the constant jumping. I know she avoids certain muscle groups (like arms) because those are the areas she doesn't want to bulk up on. I would actually prefer less lower body work (please, no more jump lunges) and more upper body exercises (pulling, back exercises).

    1. Well this goes to show just how easily Zuzka puts on muscle now doesn't it?
I think her thighs are bulky and she should jump less to avoid bulking more. But her legs are gorgeous. As are her arms and abs!!! Lol. I tire of the jumping because it does just that - makes me tired, not stronger.

    2. Do you think her things are bulky because of all the jumping? I have noticed that too, and I didn't like the way mine bulked up over the summer. I've now cut back on her leg exercises and just modify. I was always under the impression that women have a hard time bulking up anywhere (especially without weights), so I couldn't understand why my thighs were growing by doing her exercises. I'll admit though that I have a hard time understanding how to stop my legs from bulking disproportionately (I had great results with Summer Shred all over, except for my larger thighs, which I did not like). I've read Bret's piece about growing glutes without growing quads, but even he says it's unlikely to grow anything without weights or resistance. Any advice?

    3. I think Zuzka's thighs are bulky because of jumping because of her body type. Most bodybuilder's actually avoid jumping because it breaks DOWN muscle. So it depends on your body type. Are you naturally muscular like Z? Most women do NOT bulk - but what can happen is that the exercise makes them hungrier and that's why their thighs get larger. More food!

  3. Ha, very diplomatic response :-) I like it! Thanks! I've been suspecting that a little bit too...

    1. M - that made me laugh. I only bulk if I EAT, not from weights or lifting, but Z has a VERY diff body type than me.

    2. Exactly, I bulk if I am not careful about the food. I just couldn't explain why I had awesome muscle definition on my abs and arms, but my thighs were weirdly bulky compared to the rest of my body. I also cut out the post-workout protein shakes, and that helped too. Glad you report a similar effect. The weakest point about my training is *definitely* figuring out how to eat the right way to support my training...still not entirely sure what works best for my body type!

  4. I'm going to try to implement the use of a weighted vest into my routine. I like using weights as well and tend to note the resistance involved with having the weight vs. using ~merely~ body weight. Am trying to lift heavier in general, though.

I'm going to try out Rumi's workouts starting tomorrow! They look really interesting!
