More From Zuzka and the Protein Powder Link

Here is the link to the non-GMO protein powder I was talking about yesterday. There is chocolate, vanilla and vegan!

What did you all think of Zuzka's 15 Min Fat Burner #2? I liked most of it. Z actually looked like she was dying on this one - no pretending. It looked the real blood sweat and tears!

  1. I tried #1 and it was good but not hard although Z looked killed :) No back exercises and enough butt exercises, so I did such at the end. I think she eats and trains to look good not to increase strength and endurance. Is #2 free? I am not a member of zgym.

    2. #2 is not free. :(
I think 2 rounds making it 30 min might make it hard enough?

    1. Do u think Z is more about looks than strength? I wonder. She does things like clapping pushups, pistols and handstands, but not heavy weights.

    2. She's proficient in a few bodyweight movements, yes... But she was able to do pistols way back when bodyrock first began. I can't say I've seen any noticeable progression? She dabbled in pullups a little, but I haven't seen her get better at them or include them much.

Thr Kettlebells she uses are quite light for someone of her "fitness level".

To add to that, the way she changers her diet all the time suggests to me that she wishes to look a certain way.

    3. I disagree. Zuzka is crazy strong regarding the fact that she only does her short workouts. Just look at her doing those kipp up burpees, pistols etc. These metabolic workouts are simply not designed to get significant strength. You can get better at the exercises by doing them, but you will never build some serious strength.
In order to get strong, an average person needs to lift heavy weights. Period.
She is genetically gifted, so she doesn't need to do so and is still strong and looks like someone who spends a great amount of time at the gym.

I don't care about her workouts missing pulling excersises because I lift heavy weights and cover every major muscle group.
Actually, I even dislike workouts trying to cover every angle. It's a cardio finisher for me, give me a couple of exercises so I can get a sweaty mess. I need them to be short and sweet. I'm addicted to short metabolic workouts as finishers after my lifting sessions. Also, when I'm very short on time, I still can get a workout in.

Her being tired could be from the keto diet. I myself would never follow this kind of craziness. It's only appropriate for people suffering from a certain desease.
Also, the body needs rest time and she doesn't seem to give her body any rest.

    4. I love Zs workouts as a cash out as well. But if I were to Only follow her, I don't think her workouts are well-rounded enough. That's why always I always mention the missing of pulling exercises.

  3. You mentioned you like to lift heavy. Do you combine Zuzka workouts with lifting? Are there any programs out there for weightlifting similar to BR or Zuzka?

    1. I do love lifting and do so 4x a week and mix in some yoga. 2x a week I throw in some metabolic conditioning and might use some of Zs ideas. Im a huge follower of Bret Contreras and follow his Get Glutes program.

    2. I looked at the Get Glutes online but couldn't tell if I'd be able to follow his program without a gym? I have KBs, exercise bands, and a few Dumbbells but no machines or free weights.

    3. You'd need to get a couple of heavy Dumbbells or Kettlebells for the GG. Did you tr y one of their free workouts?

    4. I emailed them and they gave me a $10-off code so I'm trying for at least this month. I was able to modify at least their 1st workout with my equipment. Maybe in a few months I can find a decently priced squat rack. Thanks!!

    5. GREAT!!! Follow Bret on FB too. Always lots of good advice. There is also a Strong curves FB page based on his book and women are always giving tips and advice on equipment alternatives! I got a bunch of my equipment on craigslist. Look for moving sales.

  4. Yeah I agree with Rumi too. Either she fakes it (as Gina has been saying) or somehow her fitness level doesn't match her muscles. I mean, I'm often surprised how easily I follow her workouts and sometimes how much faster I am than her, and I look nothing like her (but admittedly have been doing her workouts for 2-3 years).
I guess what I don't understand about Zuzka is how she never takes a break from working out. She does something every day, and I speculate that in order to keep up with her Zgym schedule, she must shoot workouts pretty much 5x a week (or sometimes twice in a day).

    1. I too get surprised at how hard her workouts look but not so much to do them unless its a cash out where im already tired. But when Z does a hard workout she gets it right!

    2. Oh. And I agree. I think she shoots more than one workout a day!

  5. This week she has 3 new workouts in the Zgym, and 1 free workout (5 minute). I don't think she needs to shoots more than 5 times per week. But she may film these workouts in 2-3 days and this explains why she is so tired. The thing that sells for Z is her look, so not surprised she cares to look good. I tried this method of eating less and workout under 15 minutes. It works! I get leaner, BUT my strength and endurance suffer. I still can do pistols and clapping push ups, BUT I can not do many reps. So I am strong but lack endurance. I tested this with some clients and it worked the same with them. When you do longer workouts your appetite goes up and you have to eat more to support training and recovery. When you work out short, appetite doesn't go up, recovery is fast and you get leaner with less exercises. BUT this is method to look good, may be it is also method for health. Because there is moderate exercise, less but enough quality food. I don't support Keto diet, I mean to eat less on balanced diet.

    1. Again, I agree. I've experimented around with eating to support my training, and I'm definitely leaner when I eat less along with Zuzka's workouts. However, I can't see that being a sustainable approach for the rest of my life. So I've made the decision to do more than just Zuzka's stuff (weights, yoga, endurance training) as a means to switch up the workouts and actually eating regular meals. I believe that Zuzka eats tiny portions and that works for her.
As for her diet advice: I cannot take it seriously. I used to, but she keeps switching her diet and wants to convince people to follow her. Latest "diet"? Her try at Keto, which she broke off a few weeks in (she explains it in her new recipe post). But she tried to sell us Keto as this miracle diet for a sharp mind and lean body.

I love Zuzka's workouts and think she's a darling, but my personal approach is to follow what seems reasonable and take the rest with a grain of salt (and not "worship" her as this lifestyle guru).

    2. I like Z a lot, she has charisma, she looks so cute :) But as I trainer, I don't approve her :) Imbalanced workouts without back exercises, lead to injury.

    3. Rumi - Z DOES have a lot of charisma. I think that is why she is so popular other than her looks.
