Guess WHO is going to be blogging for bodyrock.tv? ZWOW #2 New and Improved, Info about the Tabata Protocol Workouts, BR's Kardio Krush

So if you guessed ME that's right! I will be blogging for thedailyhiit.com starting over the weekend. I believe my first post is due out on Sunday. I am writing about Lisa's HIIT Max workouts - how to modify them: to make the workouts easier, to add more strength based options or use various pieces of equipment. The posts will start with HIIT Max Week 1. Once it goes live I will be sure to put a link up here for you guys to read. :)

Alright - onto fitness of the day.

Zuzka posted a new and improved ZWOW#2. I liked this workout more more than some of her others as it was a bit longer, and had a push and a pull exercise along with some cardio, core and leg work. Some specific glute work would be a good add-on to this workout if you wanted to.

What do you guys think of Z re-doing her older workouts? Do you want her to keep it up? Or do you want her to move on and do new content? I like that she is re-doing her older stuff. Coming out with one new workout a week with brand new content would be cool too. No 5 minute workout this week though? I love those little workouts.
Tomorrow is her Advanced Kettlebell routine and I'm super excited to see this one.

Zuzka has another giveaway right now too:
Hi guys!! Check out this week's giveaway! One person will win a Daniel Wellington watch! Visit the blog for more info

I don't get what all these giveaways are about or where they are coming from, but it's a cute idea.

I found an interesting article on the Tabata protocol that is used by fitness professionals EVERYWHERE - BR, Zuzka, various online fitness programs, in local gyms, etc, etc.
Check it out:

A great read, very informative and my favorite take away piece of info was this:

Separate strength from conditioning. Do not think of the Tabata or other maximal effort protocols as a way to build strength. Max effort push ups or pull ups might be fun to try every once in a while, but there are more efficient ways to build strength. Your conditioning will be better off if you stick to exercises where you can perform maximal effort type of sprints.

There are many other links to other interesting articles in there and I could get caught up reading them all day! LOL. Here's another one for you that I found intriguing.

Lisa posted this workout on her FB page: http://www.dailyhiit.com/hiit-blog/hiit-workout/karims-katobolic-kardio-krush/
This a workout led by a male. BR has never had a male host other than Sean. I would like to see this guy lead us in a live workout. What do you guys think?

It's funny, at most gyms I find the male teachers to have much larger following and groupies if you will, than the female teachers. Not all the time, but a lot of the time. Lots of sexist reasons for this, sigh...... But it does seem opposite online!

    1. Taylor asked me to do it, not Freddy. LOL. She is their Community Manager. She has been super helpful and nice to me. :)

  2. Wow! You would think Freddy's stamp of approval would have to go on everything! I thought maybe Lisa asked you as she didn't seem to be okay with what he posted on his FB page about your blog.

    1. I get the impression that Freddy trusts Taylor A LOT. She really seems to know what she is doing. Besides that, this blog drives even more traffic to theirs, good or bad, so I'm sure he likes that. :)

  5. Congrats Gina, finaly someone who knows strength training will write on dailyhiit :) Can you suggest to Lisa to improve her form. She has so many followers and she has to be more carefull about her form. Rounded back when she grabs weights. It is obvious she use very very light weight because with big weights she can't do this for long time. Wish you luck and inspiration, you deserve it!

    1. Yes, how wonderful, Gina, I´m happy for you!

I agree with Rumi; though I kinda like Lisa, her form is quite terrible sometimes. I´m probably terrible all the time (I try not to), but I´m not a fitness teacher. I have also wondered about the weights she uses...

And Rumi, by the way, I tried your workouts this week, I had a Rumi week! =D I did three different workouts, and I loved them all, those challenged me, was very nive to try some new combos and exercises, thank you very much, you are adorable! =D

    2. Thank you! An dont worry we all have not so good day, just keep trying to do the best for that certain day and you will love the results. Some times best means 20 push ups, sometimes 15 :)

    3. Thanks Rumi! Lisa mentioned once that she doesn't have a mirror when she does her workouts and I bet if she did she could change her form. I know when I video myself and then see it - I often think - I look that THAT? LOL. But I also notice that you are super good with your form! :)

    5. Yes, it was a lot of fun, it´s nice to switch things up sometimes, Btw, I forgot to say that BR guy looks super awesome! I would love to see his video! =D (and I was trying to say "nice" above, not "nive" =D) And I really like the way Zuzka made the ZWOW#2 to be a bit different, it looks like a killer workout.
