Zuzka's writing a book! Day 23 and the PushIt challenge

Did you see that Zuzka posted on her Facebook page she's going to be writing a book?!
She did not say what it's going to be about. I wonder if it will be about her life going from porn star to fitness star or just about her current life? Wonder if it will include details about body rock, or Freddy or anything else from the past.....
However, I have a tendency to think that it will be all about short workouts, and dieting and that's how she looks like she does.
I'm not sure what she could write about dieting she changes her so often?!
I'm also less and less inclined to believe her about only doing 12 minute workouts herself.
She looks like a figure competitor, not a bodybuilder but a figure competitor and these women put their time in the gym. None of them look that way by doing 12 minutes workouts!
Lisa's PushIt challenge was a very good and superhard workout. It was very metabolic in nature so not something that I would recommend every day. A lot of stress on the knees, back, and shoulders in my opinion but great nonetheless.
There was a time in my life I loved these kind of workouts every single day, but I have now become much more into lifting heavy weights.
Lifting heavy weights changes your physique more than doing just HIIT workouts. But I'm also on the lean side with frail joints,  so I don't need a lot of metabolic work. :)

The day 23 challenge was my favorite so far. I would add in another round, slow it down a bit and use heavy weight. I do understand that BR is about HIIT workouts, but that's the way I would do it. :)

  1. I love your blog! I'm also curious at what on line videos you might recommend to really get into weights. I have done HIIT for quiet a while and really want to get some shape/muscle going. Are you familiar with Cathe Friedrick? I have some of her OLD weight training DVDs and wonder if they might really help me out.
    Thanks!

    1. Thanks pharaoh! Glad u like my blog. :)
Yes, cathe is a great place to start especially because you already have some of her videos. I think some of the older stuff is better from her anyways just make sure it's actually strength and not cardio.
Other great resources - Nia Shanks offers a great mini free program. Bret Contreras has a book Strong Curves and an online program called get glutes. Both are fantastic!

  2. I will definitely buy/read Zuzka's book whenever it is published. Although I'm a bit mixed about her views on diet, I still think this is good for her -- as long as it's not just the same old stuff, to be honest. I hope she gives readers more to chew on and be inspired by, or something. I'm sure if she goes into a lot about Bodyrock, a ton will have to be cleared; can you imagine the back and forth between her and Freddy if she did so, even though she was (and is?) part owner? It'd take forever!

I'm only on Day 6 of the Transformer Challenge and I'm still having to switch things up/add heavier weight/add additional cardio etc to get the most out of the workout. When I first started, I thought all you needed was 12 minutes -- and it's a good start, and good when you're in a pinch. But it's really interesting to see these amazing bodies and know (now) that they sure weren't obtained in 12 minutes, all the while wondering how newbies will feel in a month or so when they start to plateau. Hopefully with the dailyhiit blog and Lisa's posts, they're getting more information than I did at the time (two years or so ago).

    1. I think I'll buy her book too. I agree - the 12 min intense workouts seemed so hard and intense when I first started too. You do realize that you can plateau and need more (which yours already doing!) and also figure out that these women with fantastic physiques do more than 12 min a day.

  3. I wouldn't buy her book for the sole reason that I can find the same information free online. She confirmed on facebook that it would be mostly fitness. Now, if she were writing an autobiography, that would be a different story altogether. She has such an inspirational story that is very fascinating for people who have never heard of her to read.

She literally came from nothing to this level of success. I don't agree with everything she does, but she's quite inspirational and she's a definite fighter and tough person.

12 minutes isn't as intense for me anymore. I have to do LovingFit or FB. I've changed my workout style almost completely, but BR definitely sparked my passion for fitness. Now I have to be careful not to do too much cardio AKA HIIT workouts are mostly out for me. I prefer strength training and belly dancing for cardio 2x a week at least. That's been working for me, but everyone's different.

The only thing is that I tried a HIIT from FB the other day that used to be a breeze for me, and I was quite hesitant because I was a bit hesitant about doing that much cardio. And of course, I did worse than I usually would. I would usually be able to go faster or at the same speed as Kelli, but I could barely even achieve the same speed.

What is your view on the cardio versus strength training arguement?

    1. If I had to pick one over the other I would definitely pick strength. While cardio certtainly has its place and can aid in fat loss, strength training is far better at shaping your body, pushing through plateaus, making you stronger for every day life.

    2. If I could pick anything for her to write, it would be a autobiography.

  4. I think there was a time when Zuzka used to talk about writing a cookbook; or maybe my memory is not spot on. =D However, the book is probably gonna be "just" fitness book; the lifestory would be like... too awesome. =D

    1. Irene, Lexxie - I wish she would do an auto biography too. But I'm guessing it's a fitness and recipe book.

  5. I agree Irene. I'd love a life story! But I doubt we will be so lucky. I was wondering what it might be about and I think you are right about the cookbook.
