Bodyrock.tv posted their day 16 challenge with Edith (has anyone else noticed that she often wear the BR line of clothing during her workouts0?
Zuzka posted her KB Series #2 workout.
All I can say is BORING!
I'm sorry. Is that mean? I don't know what is going on with Zuzka. She seems to have taken things down a notch or two these days. Her workouts are not nearly intense. It is my guess that she is now targeting beginners so she can get more and more people to join her ZGym. She already has loyal followers who know how to make the workouts more intense.
I know Zuzka must be doing more than her own workouts these days - too easy to have a body like hers. I wish she would go back to her longer and more intense workouts.
Or maybe it is just me. The stronger I get, the less intense these seem? Or is it just that I am used to lifting heavy weight so moving lighter weights around faster just feels so cardio-like to me. Or maybe it is all of the above. :)
Zuzka is posting a lot more motivating quotes these days on her FB page. Reminds me a little of how BR does the same thing (but they do it to a much larger degree).
She also has ZWOW#68 posted on FB. I am not sure why? Very random?
And has anyone else noticed that there has been no mention or pics of Jesse in Zuzka's life lately? Where is he?
Edith from BR is great and the workout was a great bum burner. I would save that routine for the end of my workout or just do an upper body, ab and jump rope routine with it to make it more complete. But if I was short on time and wanted a bum burner, then this is great.
My legs are so sore from a workout I did yesterday so I will gladly skip this today. :)
One of my readers, Lexxie, pointed out that Donna from Zuzka's 30 day challenge (back in January) was posted on Lisa's FB page - again. She was posted with a pic with Sean once before just shortly after the challenge was over, which was weird enough, this is weird again. I am assuming that BR knows who Donna is and are choosing to post pics of her. I am sure they get thousands of pics, and the fact that they choose Donna cannot be by accident.
I actually am a big follower of www.GetGlutes.com by Bret Contreras. He first coined the phrase - Abs are made in the kitchen, glutes are made in the gym.
He is working towards his PH.D. in Exercise Science and has a glute lab where he tests the most effective ways to get gorgeous glutes. For a lot of women, this is our trouble spot. If I could get rid of the cellulite on my own butt, I would never complain about my body again! It is getting there, slowly but surely. :)
His program is more expensive that Zuzka's - it is $20 a month. I lucked out and got a life time membership for $180. (NO this is not an affiliate link or anything like that - I just believe in this program).
It comes with 6 workouts a month - 3 strength and 3 conditioning. You repeat these workouts for the course of the month trying to get a little stronger each time, and then the following month you get new workouts.
It is by no means as frilly and exciting as Zuzka and BR - it is a no frills, down to basics, but very effective strength based program founded on science.
There is also forum where you can ask questions and you ALWAYS get an answer!
Check it out if you are interested.
I don't mind Zuzana's easier workouts, because although I have been active and training for years, I am not strong at all (I have gotten stronger over time, but very slowly) and get out of breath quite easily. What I do mind though, is that she could explain the excercises before the workout like she did before. I prefer doing the workout on my own, so I'd just quickly like to see what it looks like, write it down, put on some music and go.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your reply and your point of view zusie. I can totally understand where you are coming from. I bet a lot of people prefer what zuzka is doing now. I just think she is catering to a completely different market now. I personally miss some of her older stuff. Maybe she can do a combo but I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time. ;)
DeleteI feel the same way as you! Back when the ZWOWs were still free, I noticed a decline in quality or it started to get way too easy for me. Or I would always beat Zuzana and it got boring after the first couple of times.
ReplyDeleteShe had a blog post and was criticized for her writing that you might want to look at.
What I love about Tatianna is that I have to work hard to beat her scores. The first time, I always get a worse score than her, but after doing the workout once or twice again, I always keep beating my time and her's.
And engineering and fitness would be a cool idea:) I helped start a fitness club that I'm excited to see in action this year! I have less Engineering hours than I wanted to take. I wanted to take 18 and make it a full course, but I have to take 15 instead since engineering is difficult. So I'll have a lot of free time to work with the club!
AMinnow- which blog post was it? Was it on FB she was criticized or on her actually blog?
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!
Yes! Where was she criticized? And do tell us more about your club!
Deletehttp://www.zuzkalight.com/blog/10-reasons-to-get-into-a-great-shape/
DeleteIt was down in the comment section where someone criticized the lack of grammar on there. I'm surprised no one took it down yet like they did with Bodyrock.
Thanks for the link. Wow how rude. Like zuzka or not I feel like that was a bit over the top!
DeleteAMinnow, I totally agree, engineering is difficult! I have been finding it very challenging lately to get proper exercise while trying to get an adequate amount of studying on a daily basis. I'd be thrilled to know what type of club you created that combines engineering & fitness.
ReplyDeleteYay! A fellow engineering student! Oh is it ever! And I'm not to the critical last few years yet! I'm doing biomed, which one are you doing?
DeleteWell, what I usually do is that I'll make up a quick 2 minute workout with intervals or so whenever I get tired from studying. That usually pumps me up and I can go back to studying.
The club itself isn't combining engineering and fitness, haha. I was thinking of trying to minor in health science or get a certificate in personal training. The other person who started the club is working on getting certified as a personal trainer, and we thought it would be pretty cool if we started a club focused primarily on strength training.
The minute details haven't been decided yet, since we all have different schedules, but for sure we're going to try to individualize fitness plans for the people in the club and meal plans. We're all helping each other with fitness which is fun, although we have different ideas when it comes to strategies. I'm really fond of barely any ab exercises and focusing on the upper body and lower body, and she adds on a heavy ab workout at least three times a week.
As far as engineering, maybe figuring out a way to make it work? There's around 75 people in it already, so we're not sure yet. And it ranges from people who have never exercised before to people who really know a lot about a specific form of working out and use it a lot. There are people who are fans of only body weight exercises, only kettleballs, etc...
WOW! Good for you, Sounds amazing, Keep us posted!
DeleteI am into mechanical engineering. First two years under my belt. Although recently, fitness and health excites me way more. I am at a crossroads, worrying about why I like fitness more. But I think it is totally valid to try and be as passionate about both things without neglecting either one.
DeleteOh wow! Props to you! I like genetic and tissue engineering so I did biomed. I see fitness as a great passion, and it would be cool to do it part time while still being a full time engineer. Maybe it could be a full time one, but I like research a lot. Oh well, the future can change just as a river turns.
DeleteHey we are women!!! We can excel at many things at the same time.. I bet biomedical is hard!!!! I see how health and fitness plus body processes can mix with engineering :-) that is wonderful. I still don't know what I'm going to end up doing. I would really enjoy being part of the renewable energy revolution our generation is sure to partake on. In the meantime, I will try my best to stay fit.
DeleteYay! A fellow female engineer! I wish that more women would go into the field! There's honestly not too much math involved which is the reason why a lot of my friends refused to do so.
DeleteIt definitely fits into biomed! And mechanical is such a broad field, that I'm sure that you would be able to do so! Mechanical engineers can also apply for biomed jobs. It's really broad, but I really don't like physics so I don't know if I could take it! I haven't taken physics yet, but I didn't like my physics teacher in high school.
Physics and calculus is the reason why I chose mechanical. I do struggle with both subjects a great deal however, but the high and feeling of accomplishment you get after solving an imposible problem or exam is priceless. I am sure you will do great in physics. It rules the universe.
DeleteI see the comments now. I believe this is the same lady (man?) who has wrote comments on her FB/blog over the years. While she/he does sometimes bring up some good points, she/he can be very aggressive, argumentative and often exhausts the topic to no end. It goes from what could be constructive feedback to simply aggressive.
ReplyDeleteI do feel that if Zuzka is providing a professional service, it would be helpful for her to have someone edit her posts. I still love reading them and must admit in some ways I like how I can ‘hear’ her talking because of the mistakes :)
But much like how she should follow through on things she promises to her now paying customers, such as new trainers (where did that first guy go?!), arm balances on certain days etc ,I believe having her posts edited would bring her business up a notch and make it truly professional.
I am happy to pay my monthly fee and won’t stop due to these issues, but I don’t think some of the feedback is necessarily unreasonable. I hope Zuzka considers respectful feedback to help her grown and improve :)
Very well said Lexxie! I know I make a lot of mistakes on my own blog. Kids running around in the background doesn't help. ;)
DeleteI agree! There could be a good discussion if it weren't so rude and aggressive. I agree that since it's a professional blog, Zuzka should edit everything, but I feel the same way as knowing that Zuzka actually wrote it.
ReplyDeleteAnd Gina, I adore your blog and I haven't noticed mistakes yet.
Thanks Aminnow! :)
DeleteI was also wondering where Jesse was as he always showed his face here and there. I liked seeing them together. She did a post today which she spoke about him and their upcoming trip to New York. I wonder if she reads your blog? Maybe I am reading way to much into this, but she just referred to him so much in this post.
