How Important Is Cardio Anyway? Tatianna From Loving Fit Has A New Workout Today

I always think that many people overemphasize cardio and do not place enough emphasis on weight training. What say you?
Think about it. If you are a pear or apple shape and you do a lot of cardio, you may become a smaller apple or pear, but you will not shape or reshape your body. You will not build muscle - or 'tone' as a lot of women like to say.
I saw a woman the gym today who I have seen there day in and day out for over 3 years now. She has those wiggly arms - and there she went again onto the elliptical. Her time would be better spent performing push-ups, dumbbell presses, shoulder presses and the like. She can try and burn all the fat she wants via cardio, but she will never 'tone' her arms with cardio.
Now - here is where people say to me - but I also need the cardio to burn the fat on top of the muscle!
Really? Do we? Does strength training - if done correctly, do enough?

Here is an interesting article to let you ponder on that concept!

I am listening to PRINCE as I type this - and I am bummed out about the loss of this musical genius. I know we all lose loved ones that are never recognized and celebrities are given too much credit, but I listened to his music growing up and it brings back so many good memories for me. I also loved working out to much of his music! Still do.

Anyways, Tatianna has not posted a workout in a while. She has a new one today that is very lower body based. She just looks strong doesn't she? I'm not a fan of her over orange/red bright lipstick look. She is not very active on FB these days, but if you like her, she is very active on Google Plus: https://plus.google.com/+Tatiannamania/posts

  1. From a medical perspective, weight training is so important for bone density. As women age, their bones become less dense, so weight training is SO important for prevention of osteoporosis. New research has shown that weight training or resistance training is the way to go, rather than increasing calcium intake as previously thought. Plus, you do get cardiovascular benefits from weight training!
My cardio for a long time has just been walking my dog. I hate running, but I do incorporate sprint training sometimes.

    1. I LOVE walking and wish I had more time to do it - and wish I lived in a climate where I could do it more often. I sometimes drag my kids in the wagon with me, but most time they complain, LOL. I can't leave them home alone!

  2. These days i do both cardio and weight training. 1-2 days a week i focus more on cardio, but my overall focus is strength, as that changes your body. I'm getting for bikini season and i have some jiggly bits to lose, so both are important, but strength is essential.

  5. The article you posted made some good points - and I am a BIG fan and proponent of strength training- but as an archaeologist I have to say that his analysis of our 'caveman' ancestors and how they moved and such is complete pseudo-historical bro science B.S.
