Very good info on training vs exercising

http://www.t-nation.com/training/biggest-training-fallacy-of-all

A great read. I'm starting to think that a lot of Zuzka's and BRs workouts are just exercise and not training. What do you guys think?

  1. That's the way I have always seen it. Random workouts with no real structure or purpose is exercise. I did bodyrock for almost 2 years, starting back in 2010 or so. I plateaued so fast. I wasn't particularly good at anything. I was just lean. It wasn't until I did some research, got a personal trainer for a few sessions, etc... That I realized what a training regimen was. I needed to make goals and have a structured plan to get there. I dabbled in crossfit, but that was more along the lines of exercise, as well. After my beginner gains, I needed a structured plan. Right now I'm doing calisthenics and Kettlebells as my main form of training. I have goals and progressions for each, and my routine is structured to help me meet my goals. I have yet to plateau and I've been doing this for almost a year.

    1. Tx for your comment Laura. I think that BR/zuzka workouts are best for : beginners - they will have a hard time at first and then eventually plateau; people who are short on time; as a cash out to your regular workout ; or people who hate to exercise and 12 min is all they will do.

  2. This is a very interesting subject! What do you think of melissa benders workouts? To me they seem to have a reason, not so random. But im pretty new at sticking with weight training.
